- Glucerna is a reduced-carbohydrate, modified-fat, fiber-containing formula designed to enhance blood glucose response in people with abnormal glucose tolerance when used as a nutritional component of therapy in patients prone to elevated blood glucose levels. Glucerna provides only 34.3% of total calories as carbohydrate. The unique fat blend, rich in monounsaturated fatty acids, provides the majority of the non-protein calories. These features minimize glycemic response, making Glucerna desirable as a supplemental or total enteral feeding for patients with abnormal glucose tolerance. The formulation includes soy fiber to help maintain normal bowel function. Suggested usage for patients with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes mellitus, or patients with abnormal glucose tolerance resulting from metabolic stress, such as illness, trauma, and infection. For supplemental or total nutrition, for tube feeding. Fat blend high in monounsaturated fatty acids. Meets American Heart Association recommendations for fatty acid profile. Moderate osmolality (355 mosm/kg H2O). Meets or exceeds 100% of RDIs for 24 key vitamins and minerals in 1422 Cal (1422 mL). Lactose- and gluten-free.
